As a follow-up to last week’s Business Builders Guide Post, a conversation with a colleague triggered a further discussion on the impact Core Principles have on consistency of growth and contribution. Our colleague has been helping leaders understand and appreciate how their actions influence the outcomes of the businesses they lead. It boils down to the principles that govern each action and decision they make.
Some framework* for consideration:
- Businesses and leaders who have good intention statements of Core Purpose, and Core Values but lack Core Principles that they will not violate tend to talk a good talk but lose credibility with their teams.
- Businesses and leaders with weak Core Purpose and Core Values statements but stronger principles they consistently observe tend to be judgemental and, as a result, lose their influence in their business and marketplace.
- Businesses and leaders who have weak Core Purpose and Core Values statements and weak or nonexistent principles tend to oppress the business and teams and create an environment where the safety of being part of the team is at risk.
- Businesses and leaders who make more assertive statements of Core Purpose and Core Values and have stronger principles that govern their actions, decisions, and behaviors tend to create an enduring culture and work environment that allows all involved to transform from being good to being great contributors.

This framework aligns directly with JKL Associates Promise Culture, where each person and business, when invested in Core Purpose, Core Values, Core Principles, and the alignment and commitment is unwavering, have in place the foundation on which they can individually and collectively outperform and contribute not only to the marketplace but equally if not more importantly to themselves.
This week, it is time to stop just thinking you have a framework and foundation in place and give this an authentic investment to set yourself and your business asset up for the future. You might very well have a framework in place, and we congratulate you for that initial step. The question is – if we were to ask your team members, would they indicate you live consistently to your framework, or is there variability in it?
If you want an unbiased, third-party evaluation of your framework, call JKL Associates. Speak with a Promise Guide to explore setting your business up as a culturally sound growth machine for the future. A Promise Guide can be reached at FL (407) 984-7246 or MI (313) 527-7945.
