Wrapping up 2025

As we wrap our Christmas presents and add a nice big bow for family and friends, we are also closing out the calendar year 2025. Some of the greatest momentum of the year occurs in the final few days. People are pushing hard to cross the finish line of various goals, projects, and desired outcomes that were set some time ago.

Throughout the year, there are certain times when extra effort is visible to achieve something. These include the days before a vacation or time off from work, the days immediately after a vacation or holiday, the last few days of the calendar year, and the beginning of the new year. If your fiscal year doesn’t match the calendar year, you’ll also notice this as you approach the end of your fiscal year and the start of the next. Clearly, there are other times when additional effort is needed to complete a project or activity.

These cycles of extra effort are essential for completing the work.  It brings great satisfaction to those involved when tasks are completed.  These moments need to be appropriately celebrated and acknowledged so that they are not overlooked.  As leaders, we must take the time to raise the conscious level of appreciation for solid contributing behaviors and actions.  This reinforces each person’s individual and collective contributions to the organization’s success.

At the holiday time, organizations can tend to blend everything together – thanks for this, that, and the other things of the work world.  Consider making this year’s acknowledgments a bit more definitive. It is a pretty low/no-cost way to reinforce your organization’s foundation and framework of success.

You have some homework to do, so this week’s insights are brief.  Take a few minutes right now and write down all those special, specific moments where members of your team went above and beyond to contribute to the 2025 results.  Think back over the entire year. Writing them down quarter by quarter will not only help acknowledge where it is due but also craft a timeline of success points to share with your team.

JKL Associates would like to thank all our loyal readers who, from time to time, send us brief messages of appreciation for acknowledging the value they receive from our weekly insights.  May all of you and your businesses grow and prosper for years to come.
