In some cultures – May 1st is May Day – Beltane

So if you have never heard of May Day then you likely have never heard of Beltane.  This celebration dates back thousands of years in Celtic heritage.  It is about celebrating life, fertility and the forthcoming of summer.  Culture around the globe is filled with many unique and interesting events and celebrations.  These days recall times when life was simpler and recognized that the change in season was directly tied to life and the continuation of it through planting, nurturing and harvesting.  Although food is essential to life and sustaining it, so too are the events of celebration which we must take time to remember and participate in so that our culture is rich in history for all future generations.
