One of the elements of our Promise Culture Model focuses on the aspects of relationships in and around your business. Once your organization has a well-defined Purpose, Core Values, Vision and Passion guiding the promises you make out into the business world you must look at all the various relationships that touch upon the success of your organization.

Prudence

The word “Prudence” is not a word we hear used much anymore.  Most people have never heard the word let alone understand its meaning.  If we explore the essential meaning of prudence it refers to the careful good judgement which helps someone avoid risk or danger. It is also defined as the ability to govern and discipline oneself by use of reason. The other day I heard an additional reference…

Thanksgiving

Each year we pause the current hustle and bustle to consciously give thanks for all we have in our life.  Our relationships, our families, our colleagues, our clients, customers, prospects, friends, neighbors, acquaintances and even for those we have not yet met.  We also give thanks for our shelter, our food and all the various elements which surround us daily.

When you look at the calendar, we barely have 30 working days left in 2021.  2022 is right around the corner. We are well into the motion of development or finalizing our business objectives for the coming calendar year. We have all done it again – set goals, identified targets, and assigned lead resources to make sure they get accomplished.  Right about now you take in a deep breath and consider the task complete. – WRONG…. The reality is, that a solid portion of the task is set in place, but without solid lead factors defined, understood, and tracked then the likelihood of achieving the goals set forth is reduced.

I have the utmost respect for our veterans.  Men and Women who for the sake of country and the freedoms it represents gave of themselves to a degree many of us will never know or be able to comprehend let alone understand. Today we raise notice by placing a date on the calendar to specifically remember our veterans both living and deceased.  Each day we should remember the freedoms we have and the price, which was paid to get them, protect them, and allow each of us to partake in them.

No Time to run out of ink

Have you ever been in that situation when you are either in the middle of a project or trying to complete a project and you come up short on some resource to get the job completed? Not a very enjoyable situation. The dominos begin to fall and stopping them is a bit of a chaotic chase to supplement the needed resource.

That spooky time of year is upon us again.  When everyone has the chance to take off their mask and let their inner being show through to the world around them. Halloween seems to get bigger and bigger each and every year. Or at least that is what the retail marketing pushers want the world to believe. This is a good example of ghouls and goblins.  So far to date I’m yet to actually meet or greet a ghoul or goblin. Maybe there is still an opportunity in my future.  For now, they only exist in the minds of the story tellers.

Stuck In Activity Mode

In the book – Leadership is Language by L. David Marquet, he references the difference between doing and thinking and the influence it has on results and outcomes. He separates the two into blue work and red work.  Blue work being that of the thinking side of the equation and red work being that action or doing part of the effort. He separates these to bring a clear contrast to how leaders influence positively or negatively the outcomes of a situation.  A good read for sure.

One Size Does Not Fit All

Not too long ago I had reached into the bottom drawer to grab a pair of work jeans as I was about to head out to the yard for a day of “To-do” list chores. We have all been there wanting to get a head start on the weekend by getting those chores out of the way allowing for the rest of the time to enjoy with family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. The challenge this morning was that upon putting the pants on, something was not right. No, it was not that they were too tight for me to button and zip closed. It was just the opposite.  They were almost so large that they would have needed suspenders to hold them up even with a belt.

We are starting into the 10th month of 2021.  The first three quarters of the calendar year are complete.  3 more months exist to realize the goals and objectives you set out to achieve at the beginning of the year. There is no question that 2021 has had its share of odd business dealings.  The lag or should I say drag on the business marketplace still exists.  Business leaders are continuing to figure out ways to take care of customers while trying to engage employees to be part of their team.
