As we launch into the fourth month of 2024, it is a good time to assess our progress. Are you on pace to achieve your business goals and objectives? What have you learned since the beginning of the year that has either distracted you or enabled you to move forward or fall further behind?
Although we joke about April 1st being April Fool’s Day and use the time to poke fun at and with our friends and colleagues, it is really important that we stay true to appreciating and understanding the impact our pranks can have on those around us. We don’t always know what else is going on in someone else’s life, and our unintentional actions can cause pain under the surface.
As we wrap up the third month of the year and the end of the first quarter of the calendar, it is a nice time also to wrap up the 5th “P” – Profit in our 5 “P’s” review. You might say we kept the best for last, but in actuality, profit is the result when the other “P’s” are implemented and executed consistently.
Profit is the result of focusing your attention on your people, having a solid pace of progress, and being open to new perceptions that allow you to be the best you can be.
Our world today is overwhelmed with many perceptions. The variety of media outlets imposes many people’s opinions on us, which causes a number of perceptions to begin to be formulated in our heads. These perceptions, combined with the biases that we have, form very distinct views of how we see and interact in the world.
Perceptions can happen both by other people of you and you of other people. Keep an open mindset to all the variety that comes your way. You never know what the next thing might just be that is beneficial to you and others.

Success is not a sprint but more of a marathon. Each step along the path to a better outcome is based on the previous steps. Sometimes, those steps come quickly, but long-term sustainable progress is the culmination of many steps over long cycles of time. Have patience while traveling forward on your journey.
